I was hired by Little Brown Young Readers (an imprint of Hachette Book Group) to turn the feature length animated film Song of the Sea into a graphic novel. I was given hundreds of stills from the film and laid out each into panels across more than 250 pages of the graphic novel. I also provided lettering for the dialogue balloons.
At the same time I was tasked with designing new art for several scenes in the film to make them better fit the medium of the graphic novel. Film creator and illustrator Tomm Moore provided the new images following my designs.
Below are pages that feature my panel layouts and lettering, along with Tomm Moore’s illustrations based on my designs.
